Why axe-con? Let me tell you why.
Axe-con is all about digital accessibility. All day, every day. Accessibility is not a sidebar at this conference…it IS the conference. And it's not just for programmers and designers…it's for everyone! Whether you are brand new to accessibility or a seasoned expert.
And axe-con is free! Yes, I said free! Two days of amazing powerhouse speakers and presentations that will leave you informed and inspired.
This year will be my third consecutive axe-con conference, and I’m really excited about this one. There are several presentations on the agenda that hit home for me.
The first is "secure, accurate, and accessible" 1 elections! Yes!! It sounds like a no-brainer, but clearly, there is still much work to be done. I’m looking forward to sitting in on this presentation to get up to date on the progress made and what I can do to help with the existing barriers.
The presentation I am most interested in is the panel discussion on working in the digital accessibility field while having a disability and how that influences your work. You see, I wear hearing aids - I’ve lost roughly 50% of my hearing in my left ear and 30% in my right ear. I’m very interested to hear (no pun intended! LOL) from others in the field how their disability drives decisions that affect their professional life. I’m curious to know if we have similar thought processes about those decisions.
If you check out the agenda for this year’s conference, I'm sure you’ll find several presentations that resonate with you as well.
Oh, and one more reason why axe-con should be your "go-to" conference for digital accessibility. You earn Continuing Accessibility Education Credits (CAECs) for the CPACC, WAS, and ADS IAAP certifications. Pretty awesome, right?
