3 Things - Tuesday, July 26

Disability activists suggest that disability allies learn ways to support the disability community. Each 3Things post during July, Disability Pride Month, will provide ideas for participation, education and support.

  1. Watch Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution
"If you haven’t already watched the Sundance Festival award-winning documentary, you absolutely must! The documentary weaves the summer camp experience of teens with disabilities and the future community they established to advance disability rights. The film uses raw footage and audio to transport audiences into the experience of the Camp Jened campers." Available for free on Youtube.

  2. Practice Inclusive Design Principles
"Inclusive design considers the full range of human diversity with respect to ability, language, culture, gender, age, and other forms of human difference. It empowers designers to create products whose experiences serve as many people as possible. "

  3. Start with the 7 Core Skills
If you are new to digital accessibility
, start by learning these seven basic skills that will "cultivate a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable community for everyone."
