3 Things - Tuesday, July 19

Disability activists suggest that disability allies learn ways to support the disability community. Each 3Things post during July, Disability Pride Month, will provide ideas for participation, education and support.

  • Watch "Coda"
"There has been a big wave of films centered around disability receiving critical acclaim. This year "CODA" won the Academy Award for Best Picture. CODA stands for Child of Deaf Adults. The film centers around Ruby, the only hearing member in her family. She rediscovers her passion for singing and wishes to pursue that in college." Available exclusively on Apple TV+

  • Create an inclusive environment for employees with disabilities
"All too often, our society leaves out people with disabilities. As a result, disability is broadly overlooked in DEI initiatives, whether at the organizational, societal, or individual level. Disability Pride Month provides people without disabilities an opportunity to be a better ally for employees with disabilities."

  • Attend a Disability Pride Month event
"Take to the streets and celebrate all things disability! Join the celebration because disability justice requires all of us."
