...and OMG, 2020 is almost here!
With the holidays fast approaching, I thought this article by Forrester Research geared towards people who manage retail websites was a great, short read with some useful tips for all website managers.
Retailers: Make your website accessible or leave money on the table
The tip that struck me as a useful tip for all website administrators was number one, own up to your shortcomings and provide a quick contact details section for those who may require additional help with your current setup/limitations. It is only fitting because identifying and admitting our shortcomings is generally the necessary first step to remedying issues.
In reading this, I am reminded of how quickly the new year is approaching. As I set my goals for the next year, I can not help but think about all of the goals I fell short of this year. As a website administrator, I appreciate this article because it highlights that everything does not need to be fixed immediately. Making your website accessible can be an iterative process and should become a part of your overall goals. As someone who had lofty goals for accessibility in 2019 and our own website, I feel comforted knowing that I did improve and that I will continue to make improvements in 2020. Before the end of the year, I am committed to making a list of my top priority fixes for 2020 and a timeline for accomplishing them.
I'd love to hear from you. What do you plan on getting done within the closing weeks of 2019? How do you feel you did this year? What are your priorities for 2020?
